Pioneering trek and packrafting adventure

Be among the first to explore this remote corner of Greenland.

After departure in Nuuk and a 150km boat cruise in West Greenlandic archipelago, we reach the bottom of the beautiful Grædefjorden/Kangerluarsussuaq river.

Here we initiate a 80km long journey, which by foot and packraft (small inflatable boats/rafts), will take us along the outskirts of the Ice cap.

Trekking and paddling your way through, a beautiful and diverse picturesque landscape will be explored, lakes, rivers, glaciers and mountains experienced at first hand. 

This is a true once in a lifetime experience!

DAY 1

We depart Nuuk in the morning in an open RIB boat - ready for adventure. Well dressed in life suits we cruise down the West Greenlandic archipelago. Here we will get close to icebergs and glaciers dropping off into the water. We will go through narorow passages in an ever changing landscape. After four hours cruise we reach our initial destination - the bottom of the beuatiful Grædefjord/Kangerluarsussuaq river which is covered with waterfalls. Embarking the boat we will camp for the night at the beach, while leaving plenty of time for fishing Arctic char, making small hikes exploring the sourroundings or simply just relax. 

DAY 2

We hike up the valley. On the way we will have plenty of time to get in touch with nature. We camp at a beautiful location for the night 

DAY3

We hike up the valley to reach the first lake. Reaching the lake we will get instructions and practise packrafting on the quiet lake. We camp at the shore of the lake for the night with nice views to the glacier and the river.  

DAY 4

On day four we will have a real packraft adventure starting out on the lake we will reach the river and have white water rafting with stunning views in front of the glaciers. We will combinate white water rafting and hiking during this day. Starting at the top of the valley, we paddle moving water near the source of the Kussuaq river. We continue walking along the river bank where we arrive at to the most impressive ice wall of the glaciers in the entire area.  From this place we will once again paddle the river which chaging between white water and more quitely moving water sorrounded by icebergs. Finally we paddle a lake to reach a small island where we camp for the night. 

DAY 5 

Padling on the glacial lake we get close to the high rising glacier, and go a shore. Here we hike to the top of a moutain which offers a magnificent view over the ice cap. After decending the mountain we will back at the lake shore camp at a sand beach for the night. Here we are able to rest in in quiet enjying the majestic sourroundings.  

DAY 6

We paddle the lake for the day and go on shore at several interesting and locations. 

DAY 7

Short trekking day in a diverse interesting post glacial landscape. 

DAY 8

Trekking down the vally to reach the fiord. Fishing Arctic char on the way. 

DAY 9

After a relaxing time we will be piced up by the boat and return to Nuuk

As the best way to ice-land-water territorry - we mix hiking and packrafting paddling in well apportioned daily doses (maximum of 10km at the longest). This adventure is for everyone capable of being active 5 hours daily. No paddling/sea experience required. You will be required to carry your own packraft and equipment during the hikes (3 kg).
